Yoga Retreats & Mindful Movement
If you’re looking to delve deeper into your personal wellbeing journey, the Isle of Wight’s landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for restorative yoga retreats. One standout location is Nettlecombe Farm, where they have regular yoga, pilates, and wellness classes, or longer retreats hosted by popular Island wellness practitioners.
The Wellbeing Experience at Ventnor Botanic Garden hosts a whole range of activities to suit all tastes. Experience Tai Chi, Qigong and yoga, as well as unique practices such as Firebird Movement and Release.
Meditation Workshops & Sound Baths
The soothing power of meditation and sound healing is becoming increasingly popular on the Isle of Wight, and there’s no shortage of opportunities to try them.
Echo Me Sound Therapy runs regular sessions including gong andsound baths, plus Reiki and frequency therapy across the Island, including at the Ventnor Botanic Garden. These gatherings offer a safe and nurturing space to unwind, deepen awareness and release emotional tension.
A sound bath is a deeply restorative experience where tuning forks, gongs and singing bowls create a rich tapestry of sound that invites the nervous system to relax. Many people describe it as a meditative journey, one that can uplift mood, improve focus and help cultivate inner peace.
Meditation workshops, meanwhile, range from gentle beginner sessions to deeper explorations of breathwork, mindfulness and energy awareness, making them suitable whether you’re exploring meditation for the first time or looking to expand your practice. The Centre for Mindful Living offers a range of in-person or online workshops, from one day to a full retreat.
Forest Schools & Nature-Based Wellness
Forest schools and nature-based activities are another shining facet of the Isle of Wight’s wellness scene. These outdoor programmes invite participants to immerse themselves in the natural world through guided education, mindfulness walks, nature crafts and seasonal explorations. Try Wood Learn Forest School, which delivers specially tailored forest or beach school programmes and 'bushcraft' activities for children and adults of all ages and abilities.
Forest bathing - inspired by the Japanese practice shinrin-yoku - encourages slow, mindful time spent in wooded areas, helping to reduce stress and promote wellbeing. Practitioners lead sessions that focus on sensory engagement with the environment: feeling the textures of leaves, listening to birdsong, and noticing the interplay of light through branches. From bespoke massages and reflexology to reiki and intuitive healing, there’s a diverse range of therapies designed to support emotional balance, physical ease and energetic harmony. We love Laura Jane Holistic & Beauty Therapy in Ventnor, which also runs certified courses for anyone wanting to take a step into their own wellness career.
Wellbeing by the Sea and in the Countryside
One of the greatest gifts of wellness on the Isle of Wight is simply being here. The island’s coastal paths, quiet beaches, rolling downs and sheltered valleys create a natural canvas for well-being. Early morning walks along the coast, sunset meditations beside the sea, and mindful picnics among wildflowers are wellness practices in their own right.
