Selling your home during the Coronavirus pandemic? 27 Apr 2020
We have had many calls and emails from customers wanting to know what the coronavirus outbreak means for them selling their home.
Although none of us knows the future and we remain in unprecedented time and completely unchartered waters, as local property experts, we are able to give some idea of what we are seeing within the market…
Property searches
We are still seeing a good amount of activity online using our property search tools. We know from our links with websites such as Zoopla and Rightmove that they too are still receiving a huge number of online search hits. People still need homes; this is the one constant that remains throughout the market.
People are still enquiring and many are really taking this time to research the market so that as soon as restrictions are lifted, they are ready to go.
Use this time to explore properties and areas by using our property tour videos, looking on google earth and street view – these are great way’s to virtually view a location until you are allowed to safely visit.
New Instructions
Properties that received a market appraisal for this situation hit are still coming to the market. If they have images and received a full market appraisal, then they are good to go but need to keep in mind that they will need to be flexible during this time. The biggest hurdle that we and other agents are facing, is that we simply can’t show anyone around a property.
If however, you did not have an appraisal before lockdown, we would recommend waiting to have your property fully appraised once the restrictions have been listed and in the meantime, get your house market-ready.
Proceeding sales
We are still working hard behind the scenes to keep sales together. We are obviously following government advice to delay exchanges and completions but we are still regularly communicating with solicitors and other agents to make sure that sales do not fall through and that there are no unnecessary delays once people can start to move again.
If you would like to discuss your sale, give us a call and we can talk you through where we are and your next steps.
