As well as large events, the Quay Arts Centre offers a range of entertainment for everyone, including art classes, comedy, live music and plenty of children’s entertainment during the school holidays. It’s the perfect spot to sit with a coffee and cake overlooking the quay.
On the outskirts of the town, in the picturesque village of Carisbrooke, you will find one of the Island’s well-known landmarks. -Carisbrooke Castle. It was here that King Charles I was imprisoned after the civil war in 1646. After two failed escape attempts from the Castle, he was moved before being beheaded at Whitehall in 1649.
