Events on the Isle of Wight this summer… 19 May 2021
It may have felt like a lifetime, but with restrictions easing, the Island is definitely starting to wake up again and there are plenty of fun events set to take place this summer. Read our guide to some of the top Isle of Wight events taking place this summer…
Sky High Night Glow at Robin Hill – Running over the Bank Holiday at the end of the month, this three-day extravaganza features magnificent hot air balloons floating back into the park. There will be spectacular Night Glow displays every evening between the 29th and the 31st May from 5pm and 10pm.
Isle of Wight Festival of Running – If you have been running over lockdown, why not take the plunge and enter the Festival of Running from 30th May to 6th June organised by the West Wight Sports & Community Centre. Over eight days, athletes of all levels can choose from five circular cross-country routes, in the breath-taking west of the Island. The biggest draw of the weekend is the famously tough Needles Half, which follows a spectacular trail along the coast!
Ventnor Fringe – This year, Ventnor Fringe is a special extended event from 23rd July – 1st August 2021. Over ten full days the festival will once again be transforming spaces across the Island’s southernmost town to host it’s unique and creative programme of live events; spanning theatre, music, film and art.
Cowes Week – The Island’s most famous sporting event, the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the World and an iconic feature of the British sporting calendar. This 8-day schedule combines competitive racing for the 8,000 competitors and plenty of shoreside fun for the spectators.
Walk the Wight – If you have ever fancied walking the length of the Island, why not do it for charity on the 12th September? Mountbatten makes a real difference to Island people so why not take in the beauty of the Island whilst doing something amazing.
Isle of Wight Festival – The Island’s most famous event bar none, The Festival returns at a later date of 16th-19th September. This year, the lineup includes Liam Gallagher, Duran Duran and David Guetta.
