Dog friendly places to visit on the Isle of Wight

Dog friendly places to visit on the Isle of Wight 23 Apr 2021

A house really becomes a home once a dog moves in.
Dog ownership has certainly increased over the past year, so we’ve rounded up some of the best places to visit with your pup here on the Isle of Wight…

Ventnor Botanic Garden. Visit the beautiful gardens that showcase some amazing plants from around the world. Your dog will enjoy the stroll, plus there are plenty of places to sit and relax with a picnic.

Off the Rails. Set in the old railway station along the old track in Yarmouth, this makes for a really popular dog walking spot. Stop off here for a cuppa or even book a delicious lunch. Your four-legged friend will thank you as he picks off the special ‘doggy menu’ – we recommend the dog ice cream!

Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Set in Havenstreet on the outskirts of Ryde, the steam railway is a great day out for all the family. Your dog can ride the train with you (although you will need to purchase a doggy-ticket)

The Buddle Inn, Niton. Take your pooch for a walk along the coastal path near St Catherine’s Lighthouse and Castlehaven beach. They will be ready to flop on the flagstone floor when you get to the pub, giving you a chance to enjoy a pint in peace.

Culver Haven. If you have an active dog, then why not take (the fairly steep) walk up Culver Down. For those pooches that prefer less walking and a bit more sitting, drive up and park in the carpark. The view alone is worth making the trip for.

There are plenty more places you can visit with your dog, this is just a very small selection to get you started!
