Welcome to the sunniest spot in the UK, where the golden rays don’t just lift your spirits, they elevate everything on your plate and in your glass. Thanks to our extra hours of sunshine a day, this island has become a thriving hub for passionate growers, inventive chefs, and bold brewers - all crafting vibrant flavours that taste like summer, all year round. Here are some of our favourites…
The Garlic Farm
If you love bold flavours, you’ll be in your element at The Garlic Farm, nestled in the heart of the Island in Newchurch. This isn’t just a farm – it’s a full sensory experience. Walk through fields bursting with fragrant garlic, then head to the Garlic Farm Restaurant, where garlic is transformed into something magical. Think black garlic brownies, garlicky aioli, and even garlic ice cream.
Can’t get enough? Hit their onsite shop and take home everything from garlic chutney to garlic beer. Yes, really.
Isle of Wight Tomatoes
Set in the Arreton Valley, you’ll find a local treasure: Isle of Wight Tomatoes. This family-run business grows tomatoes that are so plump and flavour-packed, they’ve earned a spot on the shelves of Harrods.
What’s their secret? A unique microclimate, rich soil, and endless sunshine. These tomatoes don’t just taste good, they’re grown with purpose and care. You can even get them delivered straight to your doorstep now. Sun-ripened luxury in a box? Yes please.
Briddlesford Lodge Farm
At Briddlesford Lodge Farm, the cows roam peaceful green pastures, soaking up the sun, and producing some of the richest milk in the UK. That milk then becomes award-winning cheeses, creams, and yoghurts – all available in the onsite farm shop. They’ve been doing it since 1923, and the quality speaks for itself. If you’ve ever sipped a creamy coffee on a Wightlink ferry, you’ve probably tasted their milk already.
Adgestone Vineyard
Set against a backdrop of rolling hills, Adgestone Vineyard is one of the UK’s oldest continuously operating vineyards, and it’s absolutely worth a visit. Here, grapes ripen slowly under the Island sun, building depth and character. The result? Stunning wines with a crisp edge and a sense of place.
Their standout? A sparkling blue wine (yes, blue!) that’s as quirky and charming as the Island itself. Book a tour, sip your way through the vineyard, and enjoy a glass in their café overlooking the vines.
Goddards Brewery
A must-visit for craft beer lovers, Goddards Brewery has been brewing since 1993, blending tradition with creativity. Their beers are infused with the local landscape – quite literally, thanks to locally-grown hops that soak up the island sunshine.
In 2023, they opened a brand-new visitor experience where you can tour the brewery, see the brewing magic firsthand, and then relax with a pint (or two) at the Firkin’ Deck Restaurant and Bar. The food menu? Packed with dishes that feature, you guessed it, their own beers.
