Famed in many paintings, poems and books, the West Wight has something for everyone.
Freshwater was the place to be in the Victoria times (and still is in our opinion) with everyone from Lewis Carroll, Darwin and of course, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Poet Laureate to Queen Victoria who set up home here. Beautifully restored to its former glory, even down to the wallpaper, Farringford is well worth a visit.
With most of the west being designated an Area of Outstanding Beauty, it is a walkers' paradise. There are many routes to choose from, from scenic coastal paths taking in the rugged coastline, to stunning rural paths cutting through the heart of the Island's historic countryside. You can follow the River Yar all the way to Yarmouth, a bustling port town with some of the Island's top eateries, including the much-loved Off the Rails, perfect for a pitstop or a lazy lunch, even four-legged customers are catered for!
The Island's most iconic natural landmark can be found at the western tip of the Island. The Needles have graced the covers of many magazines and been filmed countless times, but still remain awe-inspiring when viewed up close. Why not take a pleasure cruise where you can get up close, followed by a walk along Alum Bay, famed for its multi-coloured sands at The Needles Landmark Attraction.
Our West Wight office covers Freshwater, Totland, Yarmouth and Brighstone. Why not check out properties available in the stunning west by clicking here.
